Police claim the suspect tried to steal two cars and shoot a man in a vehicle in Tumwater, in northwestern Washington.

Police spokeswoman Laura Wol said it all started around 17: 00 local time on Sunday, when the police received reports of a drunk driver driving out of the way.

A couple of minutes later, they received reports of shots near a local high school, where they found a wounded 16-year-old girl who said she had stolen a car.

The wounds were minor, so she was given medical care on the spot.

Then, around 17: 30, the suspect entered the supermarket Walmart supercenterwhere he shot into a shop window, after which he went outside, where he continued to shoot.

Police say no one was hurt in the store. Dozens of panicked customers ran through emergency exits.

The attacker, whose data the police have not yet provided, went outside, where he tried to steal a car. He twice shot at the driver, who refused to obey him, and then tried to hijack another car.

The driver of the car was taken to a local hospital, where he is in critical condition, police said.

Witness Megan Chadwick said her husband saw three people wanting to shoot the attacker.

“Three people went after him to shoot him, and two immediately pulled out guns,” she told KIRO-TV.
