The border guards, without knowing it, guarded the cartel’s wedding on the border of the USA and Mexico
In November, the wedding of Brian Houston, an American, and his Mexican bride, Evelia Reyes, took place on the border of the USA and Mexico in a place called “The Gate of Hope”. The wedding was guarded by border guards. Writes Los Angeles TimesLater it turned out that they were guarding the cartel’s wedding.
It turned out that Houston, a US citizen, is awaiting sentencing in San Diego Federal Court on drug smuggling charges: he was detained with 20 kg of heroin, 21 kg of methamphetamine and 19 kg of cocaine.
“They are upset, they feel that they have been taken advantage of, that they have been deceived. It turns out we provided armed security to secure a cartel wedding,” Joshua Wilson, a Border Patrol spokesman, complained to reporters.
This is the sixth time since 2013 that U.S. border agents have opened the Gate of Hope. Employees of the organization also provided assistance to two lovers on opposite sides of the border Border angels (Border Angels), who usually organize such a “window” at the border for those in need.
According to representatives of the organization, they do not carry out inspections of lovers, as the border guards promise to organize inspections on their part and themselves approve couples who are allowed to get married at the border. This incident could jeopardize the conduct of all other weddings at the Gate of Hope.
