On the windows of the complex in Manhattan staged indiscriminate shooting

Residents of a luxury high-rise apartment in Manhattan live in fear after an unknown shooter began to randomly shoot at their windows.

In the complex on the Upper East Side, the two windows of different apartments were smashed by bullets from the Roosevelt Island with a difference of 24 hours.

One of the tenants, who lives on the 14 floor of One River East, woke up on Friday morning and found that his living room was shattered.

On the floor was a .0,38 caliber bullet, which police believed was most likely fired from a Smith & Wesson pistol.

A few hours later the window of another apartment on the 32 floor of the 50-floor building was broken by a bullet, it happened around 1: 15 in the morning.

As a result of the incident only windows were damaged. The tenants remained unharmed.

The shooting scared the residents of One River East, where two-bedroom apartment rental costs more than $ 7000 per month.

Ilene Epstein, whose apartment is located on the 22 floor overlooking the river, said she was "petrified by the news."

The police were confused until the bullet pierced the glass in the second apartment. At the same time, 911 received two calls from night workers who heard shots from Manhattan Park, a complex on Roosevelt Island, which is located directly opposite One River East.

The officers found that the two broken living room windows were clearly visible from the building, where two-bedroom apartments were rented for $ 3000 per month.

Police believe the shooters "stood on the balcony and shot across the river," a source in New York said.

A spokesman for Manhattan Park said the management was cooperating with the investigation.
