Writer Bykov called the reason for his unexpected hospitalization

Russian writer and publicist Dmitry Bykov said that the reason for his hospitalization in Ufa was poisoning. Bykov was hospitalized on April 16 and put into a medical coma.

“I know for sure that the cause of my poisoning - and it was poisoning - has not been established. My doctor, the resuscitator who dealt with me, immediately told me: “We can get you back on your feet, but we can’t find the reason yet, this is a longer matter,” Bykov said in the “One” program, which he recorded for “Echo of Moscow " while in the hospital.

The writer added that, contrary to the most common versions, he did not have a stroke and does not have diabetes. None of this could be the cause of the indisposition.

“I don’t know what I was poisoned with, I don’t know why I had this jump, and I don’t understand why I actually lost consciousness on the plane to Ufa,” the Interfax agency quotes Bykov as saying.

16 April 51-year-old Bykov became ill on board the plane flying to Ufa, where he was to give a lecture. After landing in Ufa, he was hospitalized. It was reported that the writer is in stable serious condition.

After hospitalization, Bykov’s condition was stable and serious for several days - he was connected to a ventilator.

On April 18, a council of doctors decided to transport Bykov to Moscow. On the same day, he was flown to Moscow by plane, which was paid for by Novaya Gazeta.

22 April Bykov regained consciousness, began to breathe and talk on his own. Now the writer feels better, but he still has a slow speech.

Dmitry Bykov is a poet, writer and publicist, winner of eight national literary awards, as well as a school teacher. He gives lectures on Russian literature and has written biographies of Boris Pasternak, Bulat Okudzhava and Vladimir Mayakovsky. In addition, he composes satirical poems on political topics, which are read by actor Mikhail Efremov - these are the projects “Citizen Poet” and “Good Mister.”
