About this in his book "Hitler in Los Angeles: how Jews thwarted the plans of the Nazis against Hollywood and America" ​​(Hitler in Los Angeles) writes a historian from the University of Southern California (USC) Stephen Ross, writes The Los Angeles Times.

Ross claims that from the beginning of the Great Depression, right up to the Second World War, Hitler’s agents were active in Los Angeles, while the Nazis planned attacks on the National Guard’s arsenals, as well as the killing of Jewish magnates and even Hollywood filmmakers.

He explained that the Nazis chose Los Angeles, remote from Europe, because another famous US city, New York, was a stronghold of Jews, and the Germans understood that they could not cope with this task.

“Everyone thinks New York is a center of Jewish activity and activity, the Nazis thought so too. They also understood that the mayor of New York, Fiorello LaGardia, was a very violent anti-Nazi. Many people may not know, but he was half Jewish. Therefore, he followed the careful protection of all the ports of New York, which the Nazis called Jew york. However, Los Angeles has had a long history of anti-Semitism, racism, the Ku Klux Klan, and right-wing demagogues. And the port was never controlled. Therefore, the Nazis could send their ships to Los Angeles, and each ship always had a Gestapo officer on board. Upon their arrival in Los Angeles, the head of the German-American Bund group went to the docks and received money from them and secret orders from Germany,” the historian explained.

According to him, the Nazis openly held meetings and rallies in the city, at which they called themselves Hitler's envoys.

“The Nazis in Los Angeles followed the same strategy that Hitler used in the 1920s with Brownwirts. She assumed initially to recruit a group of military veterans, men who are already trained to kill, who knew how to use weapons, and people who would not break under pressure.

The idea is that once these people are recruited by the Friends of the New Germany group, they, in turn, will be able to train other Americans who will later join the cause,” Ross said.

The historian said that the first who revealed the plans of the Nazis, was a veteran of the First World War, Leon Lewis, who tried to recruit because of his military past.

In the middle of 1930, he even turned this information to the Los Angeles police. He organized a group of former veterans who infiltrated the Nazi groups and scouted information.

The police Lewis argued that the Nazis were actively buying weapons in San Diego. He was also convinced that the Nazis were planning attacks on movie stars and cinematographers of Jewish origin, so that the news of their death provoked pogroms across America.

The author claims that initially the police did not believe the words of Lews, moreover, the law enforcement officers themselves allegedly sympathized with the ideas of the Nazis.

However, he continued to insist on his own and even organized a meeting to which 40 invited the most influential people of Hollywood to whom he outlined his assumptions and warned them about the danger, demonstrating the data collected by his reconnaissance group.

Ross argues that through the actions of Lewis, "people became more alert" and, accordingly, were less at risk of being drawn into the Nazi group. And with the beginning of the Second World War, the United States openly opposed the ideas of fascism, which prevented the implementation of the plans of the Nazi saboteurs.
