Yosemite Park is closed due to smoke from a forest fire in California

Thick smoke from a forest fire blazing near Yosemite National Park in California forces hundreds of thousands of tourists to change their plans for a holiday in this place and complicates the position of the park, which depends heavily on tourists.

The authorities of the 24 park of July began to urge visitors to leave the Yosemite Valley, the most popular area of ​​the park, since they plan to close 25 July on the road leading there because of the smoke, writes USA Today.

July is usually the second most popular tourist destination in Yosemite, with almost 600 000 visitors visiting the park at this time. Only August is more busy in Yosemite.

The closure of the park, which takes effect at noon on July 25, applies to all hotels, campgrounds and other tourist services in the Yosemite Valley and Vavona.

Anyone who has stayed there will have to leave the territory, and none of the tourists will be allowed back, at least until Sunday. According to officials, it is estimated that on July 24 there were about 2000 people in the park.

The owner of the hotel Yosemite Blue Butterfly Inn admitted that because of the closure, he will lose about $ 20 000.

The Ferguson fire began on the evening of July 13 and spread to 148 square km through a forest located west of Yosemite Park. Currently, the fire does not represent an immediate danger to the park, but strong smoke prompted its administration to close the park for tourists. Respirators were distributed to park workers, and they also create rooms with filtered air, so that employees could take a break.

Skelton Lodge in the park has been closed for several days, mainly because some parts of the road there were used by firefighters in order to get to the blazing fire.
