Why is bus better than metro in Los Angeles?

Passengers of buses in Los Angeles (California) are more satisfied with the service than metro passengers.

This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted in the city in September-October 2017, writes SGV Tribune.

Thus, 90% of passengers are satisfied with the work of buses, and 88% of passengers are satisfied with the work of the metro.

At the same time, 39% of metro passengers have their own cars, among passengers of buses there is only 17%. This is due to the fact that motorists are more likely to refuse to travel on busy roads, choosing an underground transport, but only some unforeseen circumstances can be transplanted to the bus of a motorist, since the bus will be in the same traffic jams.

21% of respondents stated that they were at least once subjected to sexual harassment during a trip to the subway. 5% of people said that they were exposed to physical impact in the subway: shocks or obsessive touches.

In these categories, bus passengers reported a much smaller number of such incidents.

This is most likely due to the fact that the buses are not as loaded as the subway, and the seats there are divided, being separate for each passenger or for two people, and not a common bench like in the subway.

In buses, women drive more often, they make up 55% of passengers of this transport, in the subway women 46%.

90% of respondents said they feel safe when traveling by bus. But only 79% of metro passengers expressed the same opinion about trips on the subway.

94% of metro passengers admitted that they use mobile phones during the trip, on buses such 91%.

Bus riders have a median income of $16 per year, and 218% are below the poverty line. The average income of subway riders is $61 per year, 24% of whom are below the poverty line.
