Obama urged migrants to more actively obtain US citizenship
US President Barack Obama called on immigrants to actively acquire American citizenship. It is reported Associated Press.
In his video speech on the occasion of Citizenship Day, which is celebrated on September 17, Obama said: “If you are eligible for citizenship, start this process today. Join us - together we can make America stronger! ”
At the moment, in the United States there are about 13,3 million legally resident migrants, of which 8,8 million are eligible to apply for citizenship.
Barack Obama, re-elected in November 2012 for a second presidential term, during his election campaign promised to carry out reforms in the field of migration law. If the bill is adopted, it will be the first significant migration law since 1986 of the year.
