New York Jews approve sale of kosher cannabis
In the US state of New York, the Kosher Certification Authority approved permission to sell marijuana to orthodox Jews for medical purposes. On this on Monday, February 23, reports the edition of The Jewish Daily Forward.
According to Rabbi Moshe Elephant, the head of the agency, preliminary talks were held with several companies interested in supplying kosher cannabis. However, according to him, in spite of the fact that Orthodox Jews approve of the sale of medical marijuana, they reject the possibility of its distribution for recreational purposes.
New York has become the twenty-third state of the United States, where doctors can officially prescribe marijuana as an adjunct in the treatment of cancer, AIDS, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and other diseases. The law provides that such treatment may not exceed 30 days.
For the first time in the United States, it was allowed to grow and use cannabis for medical purposes in 1996, in California. In Colorado, where it is possible to grow, sell and use cannabis not only for medical purposes, in December 2014 noted the influx of homeless people who had moved for the sake of the legal acquisition and use of marijuana.
