The Department of Homeland Security warns: a new type of telephone fraud has appeared

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) warns that recently, residents of the United States have begun to receive calls from fraudsters, who appear to be employees of the department and are trying to obtain personal information from victims.

Callers claim that they are calling from the Department’s office and make false statements trying to get victims to provide their personal information. In some cases, the calling fraudsters showed aggression and threatened to call the police if the persons they contacted did not want to provide them with the requested information. DHS stresses that its employees never call anyone from the hotline because it is designed to receive incoming calls. Everyone who received a call from this number is advised not to answer it. If you answered, do not provide any information to the caller. In addition, such incidents are advised to report to the police.

The Department stressed that it is still safe to call their hot line, all calls will reach the address, and fraudsters cannot intercept them.
