Manafort was looking for strategists for Poroshenko, the head of Ukraine denies cooperation

The first witness in the case of political technologist Paul Manafort Ted Devine said that his partner Richard Gates offered Manafort to work for the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko.

Devine told about this at the court session in the case of the ex-head of the election headquarters of Donald Trump, writes “Ukrainian Truth".

According to the witness, in 2014, after ex-President Viktor Yanukovych fled Ukraine, Gates asked Devine to meet with former members of the Party of Regions, who were planning to create a new political force - the Development Party.

For his services, Devine asked Manafort for a 10 000 fee per day.

In the same year, 2014, Gates tried to hire Devine to work for another politician, the current president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko.

At the same time, it is unknown whether Poroshenko hired Gates and Manafort to cooperate with him.

“They (Gates and Manafort) tried to put everything together,” Devine said, noting that he refused to work for Poroshenko.

The press service of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine stressed that his team never cooperated with Manafort.

“The team of Petro Poroshenko has never collaborated with either Paul Manafort or his people. Proposals for cooperation came among others, however, they were not even considered, ”the presidential administration said.

Devine worked with Manafort on the image of Viktor Yanukovich during the election campaign in Ukraine in 2010.

In addition, in 2014, Manafort offered his services to Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko, but he refused.

31 July in the United States began the trial of Manafort, who is accused of money laundering, tax evasion for almost 10 years of cooperation with the former leadership of Ukraine.

The investigation believes that Manafort earned more than 60 million dollars for the work of a political consultant in Ukraine.
