Many Americans have postponed the purchase of their first home because of the housing collapse that began in 2007. Now, after 10 years, housing prices have recovered in most parts of the United States.

To see which states offer the best conditions for potential new homeowners, GOBankingRates reviewed 50 states based on three factors:

• redemption rates
• what market share do home buyers take?
• average price for a home.

Results ranged from worst to best.
