What states are threatened by a new storm that is coming to the USA

Tropical storm Gordon quickly moved across the Gulf of Mexico after intensifying wind gusts to 60 miles / hour (96,5 km / hour), according to information from the National Hurricane Center (NHC). In addition, it is expected that when approaching the coast, the storm will intensify before the hurricane and come to the land.

As of 23: Monday's 00, Gordon was approximately 330 miles (531 km) east of the mouth of the Mississippi River and was moving northwest at 17 miles per hour (27,3 km / h).

Hurricane warnings operate from the mouth of the Pearl River along the Mississippi-Louisiana border to the border with Alabama and Florida. It is expected that the hurricane will come ashore on Tuesday evening.

Heavy rainfall will affect people in southern Alabama, southern Mississippi and southern Louisiana. In some areas, up to 8 inches (20,32 cm) of precipitation is expected. Perhaps a sudden flood.

The National Hurricane Center warned of a threat to life west of Shell Beach (Louisiana) to Dauphin Island (Alabama).

• Tropical storm warning to the west of the Pearl River estuary to the east of Morgan City, Louisiana, including Lake Pontchartren and Lake Morepass;

• Storm Wave Warning for Shell Beach (Louisiana) and Dauphin Island (Alabama);
• Storm waves on the west coast of Shell Beach at the mouth of the Mississippi River and east of the Dauphin Island in Navarre.

The mayor of New Orleans Latoya Cantrell issued a state of emergency for the city and said that all city offices would be closed on Tuesday.

Residents along the Mississippi coast began taking precautions before the storm.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency warned that Gordon might go ashore as a 1 category hurricane on Tuesday evening.

The Biloxi Fire Department will closely monitor lowland areas.

Meanwhile, tropical cyclone Florence continued to gain strength in the eastern Atlantic Ocean on Monday, at about 980 miles (1577 km) west of the Cape Verde Islands.

Florence moved northwest at a speed of about 16 miles per hour (25,75 km / h) and a maximum steady wind of 65 miles per hour (104,6 km / h). Currently there are no coastal clocks or warnings.
