Police called the perpetrators of the murder of a Russian teenager in Maryland

6 June 2017, in the city of Montgomery Village, there was a loud double murder. Unknown shot the car in which they were two senior students - 17-year-old Shadi Najar and 18-year-old Artem Ziberov. Students were killed on the eve of the prom.

“Today you plan to go to the prom of your child, and in a week you already receive a certificate of his death. You hold it in your hands and fly to Russia to choose a place in the cemetery. How can we go through this? ”, The mother of the deceased teenager, Yuli Tevelo, said in an interview with Golos America.

Parents of Artyom Ziberov still do not believe that their son is dead. There were a lot of unknown persons in the case, and no one had any idea what they could kill two schoolchildren who left the house, telling their parents that they were going to sell “extra tickets” for graduation.

“When kids are little, you know all their friends and their friends’ parents. But with high school students it’s more difficult - he had a lot of new friends. For example, I only found out about Shadi three weeks before the incident,” recalls stepfather William Tevelow.

Now the investigation has advanced far and with certainty calls Artem an accidental victim. As it turned out, the motive for the double murder was revenge against Shadi Najar.

In the evening, Najjar received a message in which he was scheduled to meet. The Office of Attorney General Montgomery provided Voice of America with the correspondence that took place that evening. The correspondence makes it clear how teenagers were lured into one of the residential areas in the suburbs of Washington.

They came to a meeting where they opened fire on them. Sounded at least 30 shots. Shadi, who was driving, received a 4 gunshot wound. Artem, who was sitting nearby, 10.

12 days later, the police detained three suspects. A few months later, the fourth suspect was detained. They were: 20-year-old Roger Garcia, 25-year-old Edgar Garcia-Gaona, 26-year-old Jose Canales-Janes and 25-year-old Roni Alexander Galicia.

The investigation believes that it was José Canales-Janes who planned revenge against Shadi Najjar. The investigation found out that in December, 2016, Najjar attacked his wife Canales-Janes and stole her tablet and marijuana from her.

Investigators interviewed Canales-Janes, but despite the fact that he was a witness to the incident, he refused to provide information to the police. It turned out that the man was looking in a search engine Google rap songs on "I'll kill for my family." Canales-Janes was the first to stand trial in January of this year.

“Jose Canales-Yanez is guilty of all counts: premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful use of a weapon and armed robbery. And all these crimes were committed twice,” said Montgomery County Attorney General John McCarthy.

Artem Ziberov’s parents were present at all hearings in the case of José Canales-Janes. At first they thought that they had missed something in the upbringing of their son and he was connected with the incident with marijuana, but the court proved that Artyom was not involved in the 2016 events of the year.

“At first there was fear: what if we didn’t know something, didn’t see it? But even after it became clear that he was innocent of anything, we still wonder: how could we have kept him safe? He has earned our trust: he is one of the most successful schoolchildren, a Boy Scout - would it be right not to let him go meet his friends on the evening before graduation?” says Ziberov’s stepfather.

In turn, mother Julia recalls that another teenager should have gone to the meeting with the boys:

“Someone else could go with him. I know that the boys called another one of their classmates - they invited me to go with them. And he already fell asleep and did not read this message on time. His guardian angel that night worked very well and helped him. This is a very important question for me lately. Why did this happen to my child? ”

In the case of the murder of Artem Ziberov and Shadi Najar, the last point has not yet been put. There are three separate trials for each of the suspects. José Canalesu-Yanes should be sentenced in March of this year.
