Deputies and judges in Ukraine may lose their immunity
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko asked Parliament to support changes to the Constitution, limiting the immunity of judges and deputies.
“I ask parliament already at this session to vote in the first reading on amendments to the Constitution, which provide for the lifting of parliamentary immunity and limiting the immunity of judges,” the president emphasized.
According to him, after this, discussions will stop that criminals go to the Verkhovna Rada to avoid responsibility and the people's deputies will cease to disappear from the country under the guise of deputy immunity.
The Constitutional Court of Ukraine (CCU) recognized constitutional amendments to the Constitution regarding the lifting of immunity from people's deputies and judges.
