Zuckerberg awarded the prize of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan

The founder of the world's largest social network Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, was awarded the prize of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan in the Internet Project category.

As the organization noted, Zuckerberg managed to create a social network that “united users from different countries on one information platform.”

Zuckerberg has not responded to the award of this award.

Among the awardees, laureates from Kazakhstan dominate: local blogger Alexander Tsoi won in the “Name on a Social Network” nomination, journalist of the Kazakh Radio Liberty Kasym Amanzholuly, the host of the “Erkin Soz” (“Free Conversation”) program was awarded a prize in the “Political Review” category, and Zulfiya Bainekeeva, a journalist from the Akzhaiyk newspaper from the city of Atyrau, received an award in the “Reporting Work” category.

In 2014, the founder of the scandalous WikiLeaks site, Australian journalist Julian Assange became one of the laureates of the Journalists Union of Kazakhstan, and in 2015 - the former US intelligence officer Edward Snowden.

The former head of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan, Seitkazy Mataev, was detained in February of this year in a case of embezzling budget funds on a large scale.

Tamara Kaleeva, president of the International Foundation for the Defense of Freedom of Speech “Adil Soz”, became the acting chairman of the board of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan.
