Most Russians view the United States as a threat.

The number of Russians who are inclined to consider the United States a threat to their country has grown by 12% over the past eight years, according to a sociological survey conducted by the Levada Center.

The fact that the US represents a certain threat to Russia is strongly believed by 19% of respondents against 16% in 2007. 40% of respondents are inclined to this opinion, while for eight years it was about 31%.

Most people who consider the real threat from Washington believe that the United States can create obstacles to Russia's development. This is the opinion of 48% of respondents. Respondents also fear Washington’s attempts to establish control over the Russian economy or impose alien ideas and values ​​on Russia.

At the same time, from 32 to 26%, the number of respondents who doubt any danger to Russia from the United States has decreased. Fully convinced of the absence of a threat from Washington 6% of respondents against 10% eight years ago.
