Berlin revoked visas for "night wolves"

Germany made the final decision not to allow members of the Russian Nightclub biker club to the territory of the country, who promised to make the Moscow-Berlin motorcycle race.

This was confirmed on Saturday in a joint statement by the Ministry of Foreign and Home Affairs of Germany.

“Core members of the Night Wolves club will be denied entry into Germany,” the statement said.

The authorities motivated this by the fact that the motor rally “will not contribute to the strengthening of German-Russian relations,” on the one hand, and on the other, it may threaten public safety and order in Germany.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reported that previously issued visas, which were “obtained fraudulently after providing false information,” have already been cancelled. It was previously reported that the German Embassy in Moscow issued ten such visas to club members.

“We oppose any instrumentalization of the immeasurable suffering of the victims and the opposition to the Nazis,” the two departments said in a joint statement, emphasizing that “the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II should be celebrated with dignity.”

As reported, earlier the “Night Wolves,” also called “Putin’s wolves,” were denied passage through Poland. Nevertheless, bikers still went to the bike ride and will try to get to Europe “bypassing the ban.” Their leader Alexander Zaldostanov, known as “The Surgeon,” remained in Moscow because his passport is currently in the embassy of a certain Schengen country. He intends to catch up with the convoy after receiving a visa.

The club, formed in 1989 year, today has up to 5 thousands of people and is considered a very nationalistic structure. In December 2014 of the year against members of the club, the USA imposed entry sanctions for their support of separatists in the east of Ukraine and in the Crimea.
