US military may conduct new raids in Iraq
US troops may conduct new ground raids in Iraq in the future. This was stated by US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter. Military operations may be similar to the one that the American and Kurdish special forces conducted the day before.
“When we find opportunities to do something to effectively carry out the campaign (against the Islamic State group), then we will do it […],” Carter said.
According to him, the operation of the Kurdish forces and the American special forces to free the jihadist prisoners in the north of Iraq also made it possible to obtain a large array of intelligence.
Carter added that he made the decision to send American servicemen on this mission in connection with intelligence reports that the execution of prisoners is inevitable.
