American film critics have named the best movie 2014 of the year.
On Saturday, the US National Society of Film Critics chose the best film of the past year: the 3-D film by French director Jean-Luc Godard “A Farewell to Speech.” The main rival of this film was the American film Boyhood.
The decision was made by 59 film critics from newspapers, magazines and other media who came from all over the country. In their opinion, the film “Boyhood” directed by Richard Linklater was also worthy of an award, namely for best director.
Timothy Spall was recognized as the best actor for his role in the film “William Turner.” Mariton Cotillard was named best actress for her role in the drama “Two Days, One Night.”
The best supporting actress was Patricia Arquette for her role in the film “Boyhood,” in which she starred for 12 years of her life, like the performers of other leading roles. Jonathan Kimble Simmons won Best Supporting Actor for his role in Whiplash.
It is worth noting that among the society of film critics were experts from the New York Film Critics Circle and even the Golden Globes - organizations that ignored “A Farewell to Speech” in their own ratings, writes AmericaRu.com
