Two elderly Ukrainian women beautifully handled a Russian journalist in the United States who asked them provocative historical questions with a pro-Kremlin accent.

So, they reminded the propagandist how Russia stole the local church from Ukraine, and also advised to recall that the aggressor country did not exist at all when Kievan Rus was one of the most powerful states.

The Russian, in turn, stated that they say that in allegedly false Ukrainian news, and advised his opponent to watch Russian television.

At this point, the second woman joined the conversation, who immediately repulsed the propagandist.

“I don’t understand Russian because I’ve never spoken Russian. I’m an American, an American of Ukrainian descent, a Ukrainian,” she snapped.

Her friend also stressed that she is Ukrainian, and asked the Russian if he lives in the United States and feels the difference between them and his native country.

However, the journalist said that he came as a tourist and went on to try another provocation.

“Now there is a situation where a church schism is occurring between Russia and Ukraine. Are you in favor of autocephaly?” he addressed his new acquaintances.

One of the women retorted that Ukraine had its patriarchate as early as 1680, but Russia appropriated it for itself, and now does not want to return it.

“I thought we were Kievan Rus together,” the Russian brazenly answered her, which angered the Ukrainian women even more.

“What is Kievan Rus? There is Ukraine and Vladimir the Great. Moscow did not yet exist when Vladimir the Great existed. There was a small hole where Moscow now stands,” the women stopped his attacks.

Finally, the Russian asked the Ukrainians a question that only aroused their bewilderment.

“Okay, we can ask: what is more ancient—Ukraine or Russia?” he addressed the women. They looked at each other and unanimously answered him that, of course, Ukraine.
