Accounts of dead users of VKontakte began to praise Putin

Users of the Russian social network VKontakte drew attention to the fact that in it began to appear laudatory posts addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin, published in the accounts, which, judging by their content, belong to already dead people.

The posts were mainly published on behalf of these accounts in popular regional and industry communities, writes with the BBC.

Some of these posts contain the hashtag # PutinKrut.

At the same time, the people whose accounts publish posts or receive messages supporting Putin have not appeared online for a long time (sometimes several years), and friends and relatives have previously left entries on their pages, from which it follows that the owner of the page has died.

The press service of VKontakte confirmed that such cases really happened. The social network explained that all these accounts were hacked. Now pages from which suspicious messages were sent, are already blocked.

Some of the entries were illustrated with pictures with the logo of the Young Guard of United Russia. The organization itself has not yet commented on the use of its logo for campaigning on behalf of deceased people.

Entries with the hashtag #PutinCrut began to appear on the day of the big press conference of Vladimir Putin, which was held on December 14. At the same time, not all of them were sent from the pages of dead people: some accounts belong to living people.
