Agrarian Party promises changes in Ukrainian politics

On December 17, Kiev hosted a congress of the Agrarian Party of Ukraine, during which the leadership of a political organization announced its intention to participate in the next presidential election, as well as take a third of seats in the Verkhovna Rada in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The party was inspired to make such optimistic forecasts by the results of the latest local elections, in which it took third place - after two large political organizations “Petro Poroshenko Bloc” and “Batkivshchyna”, writes the publication “Day".

“26 years ago a referendum on the independence of our state was held. More than 90% of Ukrainians in all regions of the country, without exception, supported the development path of an independent Ukrainian state. Then there were 26 years of hope. During this period, we have had 8 parliaments, 20 governments, 5 presidents. And we all hoped that life would be better with the next president, parliament or government. But in order to build a state, you need to create an instrument - this is a political party,” said Vitaly Skotsik, chairman of the Agrarian Party.

He added that the political organization he heads is just such a tool, which proves the constant increase in the level of support for this party among Ukrainians.

“I am very glad that since 2014, the Agrarian Party has received almost 4 thousand deputies in the created united communities and almost 4 million people united in the new party. I am confident that from all the deputies that we have raised locally, we will be able to select 450 candidates for deputies to the Verkhovna Rada. Our task is to win subsequent local elections. And then comes the very important year 2019 with the elections of the President and then the Parliament. Today we reached a rating of 12%.

And when they ask me how you managed to do this, I answer, because the Agrarian Party includes real masters. Therefore, if we do not take part in the 2019 elections, we will ruin people’s hope for a strong country.

This year will be very important for us. So for the next parliamentary elections our party is preparing 450 candidates for deputies. In addition, we are preparing an alternative Cabinet of Ministers. Already in 2018, we will present the full composition of the government from the Agrarian Party, where there will be three candidates for each ministerial position. Why three? Because each first must feel that if he fails, then the other is behind him. The main criterion will be professionalism,” Skotsik said.

According to him, despite the fact that the elections are still far away, the party is already preparing for both the parliamentary and the presidential race, which will be held in 2019 year.

“The party sets itself a clear goal - to get at least 30% in the next parliamentary elections, or 160-165 people’s deputies. A political force with such ambitions cannot say that it is not preparing for the presidential elections. We are preparing for presidential elections, but I would like to remind you that, in accordance with current legislation, presidential candidates will be nominated only at the end of next year, namely from December 28, 2018. Then we will hold our next congress and it will become known who will be the presidential candidate from the Agrarian Party,” Skotsik explained.

At the time of the congress, a new party charter and a new program were adopted that would correspond to these ambitious plans.
