Purina recalls cat food that may make pets choke.
Purina, a popular pet food brand, recalls one of its cat products after customers started complaining about rubber items in their products. Because of these objects, there is a risk that the animals, during their use, may begin to choke.
Despite the fact that Nestle Purina PetCare claims that no animals have suffered so far, the company recommends that consumers not use the purchased cans of cat food “Natural Chicken Recipe” in sauce.
“We want to make sure your pet's bowl contains foods that meet our high quality standards,” the company said in a statement posted on the FDA's website. “We became aware of this issue following complaints from pet owners who found pieces of rubber in the product. We have made changes to our process to ensure this does not happen again in the future.”
According to the recall notice, the rubber parts are translucent yellow with a blue backing. The recalled products were distributed throughout the country and sold both separately and as a set. The UPC code is 28100 17199.
The company said the recall did not affect other products. For more information, consumers can contact the company by calling: 1-800-982-3885 for more information.
