The British’s historic decision to leave the European Union led not only to negative phenomena, about which much has already been said, but also to some positive changes for consumers, including in the United States.

Given the devaluation of the pound sterling and, consequently, the growth of the dollar, the most popular products, such as branded clothing, airline tickets and even real estate in the UK, will now be more affordable.

Along with travelers, a certain benefit from the current situation may, among other things, extract investors and property owners. The Dow Jones index fell by 900 points in two days against the backdrop of British news, but now, at least for a while, there is a lull in the markets.

Shares of companies

Investors who work for the long term, can take advantage of panic in stock markets that have fallen by more than 5%. Shares of many companies and corporations are noticeably cheaper, among them, for example, the banks Wells Fargo and JPMorgan Chase (6% and 10%, respectively).

Mortgage refinancing

US Treasury yields fell from 1,84% last month to 1,44% post-Brexit, the lowest in four years. Lower borrowing costs mean now is a good time to refinance your mortgage. For example, if you took out a $2010, 30-year mortgage in 300 with an interest rate of 4,07%, refinancing would save you about $600 per month. However, you need to be careful about the cost of commissions, which can offset any savings.

Trips to Europe

The summer holiday season is another opportunity to save money on Brexit. There is an opinion that the pound sterling may become equal to the dollar before the end of this year. President of the American Travel and Tourism Council David Skousville believes that now is a great opportunity to profitably buy a trip to Europe for the holidays.

Foreigners who are interested in acquiring real estate in the British capital and throughout Britain can seize the moment, says Fionnuala Early of Hamptons International. It is reported that many buyers at the last moment refused to conclude sales transactions in order to obtain a discount or better conditions in the circumstances.

Whiskey, chocolate, tea ...

Because British companies don't have to import anything to make whiskey, the price of the famous spirit - mostly Scottish - will be lower in the American market, says Myron Wojnicki of Vanderbilt University. The same goes for other products, such as chocolate and traditional British tea.

At the same time, speaking of chocolate, it should be noted that European Union rules require at least 30% cocoa (in the USA - up to 10%), and Brexit supporters argued that from now on Easter eggs will be cheaper for British residents, since not only will the cocoa content, but also the price of chocolate in general.

Cheaper, as experts believe, and branded clothing from such famous British brands as Burberry and Ted Baker. However, at the moment it is difficult to say how rapid the changes in prices for a particular product will be.
