Restaurant Enoteca maria in Staten Island in New York is distinguished by very simple but tasty dishes - this is all thanks to the fact that the chefs there are grandmothers from different countries of the world.

The owner of the institution Jody Scaravela decided to give work to grandmothers from around the world after he lost his grandmother, mother and sister, writes Gothamist.

It all started with an Italian restaurant, an Italian grandmother and an advertisement that said: “Italian housewives will cook regional dishes.” Since then, the group of chefs has been expanded to include grandmothers from other cultures and cuisines. Every day at least 2 grandmothers work in the kitchen: one from Italy and the second from some other country in the world: Syria, Poland, Nigeria, Venezuela, Turkey, France and many other countries (in total, the restaurant presents 30 different kitchens).

In addition, one grandfather works in the kitchen, he is responsible for pasta and ravioli.

In this mode, the restaurant has been operating for more than 10 years, and has gained popularity not only in New York, but throughout the world. And in 2015, the institution even released a book of recipes from grandmothers working in it.

You can visit the restaurant from Wednesday to Sunday, it works until the last client.
