Fox News presenter after an interview with Putin went to rest in Russia

Fox Wallace, host of Fox News, interviewed Russian President Vladimir Putin after the summit in Helsinki, took a vacation and went to Russia with his wife, visiting Moscow and St. Petersburg. TASS.

“I had very little hesitation,” Wallace, 70, said by phone. “I thought, why not.”

According to the presenter, people recognized him by sight on the streets of Moscow and St. Petersburg after the interview was broadcast on Russian television. With the exception of these episodes, no one bothered him and his wife during the entire vacation. “There was no sign of trouble or anything like that,” Wallace assured.

According to him, he sought permission to interview the Russian leader for several months. The go-ahead came from the Kremlin after the official announcement of the Russia-US summit in Helsinki. The only condition on the Russian side was that Fox News had to air the entire interview.

As the press service of the channel noted, this is the first interview of the Russian president to the American media since March of this year. For Chris Wallace, this is the second interview with the president of Russia: he spoke with him in September of 2005.

According to Fox News, the interview with Putin was taken at the Russian Embassy in Helsinki after a meeting with Trump and lasted 35 minutes. The Russian leader answered, in particular, questions relating to the expansion of NATO, the Crimea, the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles, security guarantees for the DPRK, attempts by the West to isolate Russia, foreign interference in the US 2016 presidential election of the year and its investigation.

According to the Nielsen research service, 3,2 million people watched interviews in the United States.

Helsinki Summit was the first full-format meeting between Putin and Trump. Before this, the leaders met twice - in July and November last year - at major international events.
