A US federal court on Wednesday sentenced a Brooklyn resident to 15 years in prison on terrorism charges. This is stated in the message on Online Ministry of Justice.

Kazakhstani citizen Ahror Saidakhmetov was accused of conspiring to provide material support to the Islamic State terrorist organization.

“Earlier today at the Brooklyn federal courthouse, U.S. District Judge William Kunz sentenced Kazakh citizen Akhror Saidakhmetov to 15 years in prison for conspiracy to provide material support to the proscribed foreign terrorist organization Islamic State,” the statement said.

According to previous court statements, since August 2014, Saidakhmetov has repeatedly expressed his radical views and desire to travel to Syria to fight on behalf of terrorists. In September 2014, while watching videos of IS training camps in Syria, Saidakhmetov said he was going to Syria to become a “mujahid in the path of Allah.”

Saidakhmetov also said that if he could not go to Syria to join the IS, he would attack law enforcement officers in the United States. In particular, he said that he would buy a gun or a machine gun and shoot police and FBI agents.

19 February 2015 of the year Saydakhmetov bought a ticket for a flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York, to Istanbul, Turkey. Departure was scheduled for February 25 2015. At the JFK airport, waiting for his flight, Saidakhmetov received about 1600 dollars from the conspirator to cover his expenses, including the purchase of firearms after his arrival in Syria to join the IG. Saydakhmetov was arrested while trying to take a flight to Turkey.

After completing his term, Saidakhmetov will be expelled from the United States.
