On the eve of the opening ceremony of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, which will take place on Friday, the International Olympic Committee published the composition of the Russian national team - 276 people whom a special commission of the organization allowed to participate in the Games.

At the same time, more than 100 athletes were left out of the team, because their candidacies did not meet the requirements of the KPI, which were put up in front of the Russians against the background of the last scandal.

Initially, the Olympic Committee of Russia (ROC) planned to declare at least 2016 athletes to the 387 Games in Rio, writes “Currently,".

As the President of the ROC Alexander Zhukov said, the weightlifting and track and field athletics teams were completely suspended (as an exception, only one athlete was admitted - Daria Klishina), as well as individual representatives of the Russian national teams in cycling, kayaking and canoeing, rowing, swimming, modern pentathlon and freestyle wrestling.

Despite the difficult situation, experts predict Russia will take fourth place in the medal standings. According to their calculations, even in a weakened state, the team can count on 58 medals, 14 of which are gold.

The most likely to receive awards are athletes who perform in artistic and artistic gymnastics, shooting, fencing, judo, synchronized swimming, wrestling and boxing.
