Ukrainian festival is held in New York

For the 39th time, the Ukrainian Festival, organized with the support of the St. George Catholic Church, has been held on the corner of Shevchenko and Seventh streets in New York. The theme of the three-day festival this year was “United Ukraine”.

Ukrainian songs sounded at the festival, they sold national costumes and T-shirts with patriotic inscriptions and symbols, and also fed dumplings.

Most of the guests, among whom were many foreigners, came wearing embroidered shirts.

The street has traditionally been blocked for three days, the tents, scenes and tables with handicrafts have been set up on the subject of the indivisibility of Ukraine given by the festival.

The guests were fed with national dishes, cooked parishioners of the church and Ukrainian café-shops, of which there are many in the traditionally Ukrainian district.

Guests of the festival were the Lviv group “Vatra”, vocalist Olga Friz and the Ukrainian dance school “Yavor” from Canada. The festival will last until the evening of May 17.
