In New York, opened a subway station, which was destroyed during the September 11 attacks
It took almost 17 years to reconstruct the World Trade Center - Cortlandt Street subway station, which was damaged during the September 11 terrorist attacks, writes New York Post.
The station began operations on Saturday, September 8, three days before the 17 anniversary of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.
MTA reported that the station’s name refers to the fact that the station was part of the World Trade Center, as well as Cortland Street, which was located above the metro station when it was opened in 1918 year.
The renewed station will have fewer columns, a new ventilation system, and a mosaic by artist Anna Hamilton with part of the text of the US Declaration of Independence and the General Declaration of Human Rights.
Note that the MTA began restoring the station in the 2015 year.
