Trump invited a bullied schoolboy, his namesake, to his State of the Union address

The White House reported that 11-year-old Joshua Trump was harassed at school because of his last name. Now he will be present in Congress during the appeal of Donald Trump to the nation and parliament.

When on Tuesday evening, US President Donald Trump will make a report to the Congress "On the situation in the country," among the guests will be his namesake Joshua Trump, a sixth grader who is interested in science and animals, writes "Voice of America".

Joshua is not a relative of the president. This is a boy from Wilmington, Delaware, who was bullied at school because of his last name, the White House said in a brief statement.

“He enjoys science, art and history,” the statement said. “Unfortunately, Joshua Trump was bullied at school because of his last name. "He is grateful to the First Lady and the Trump family for their support."

The story of a boy named Trump

The parents of 11-year-old Joshua Trump from Delaware admitted that they were forced to withdraw their child from school and even change his last name because he was mercilessly bullied by classmates after the 2016 election. The boy always bore his mother's maiden name - Trump. The family has no ties to the president, but when Trump began his election campaign, bullies did not give the child a pass even in elementary school, writes The Daily Mail.

The intimidation became so strong and threatening that his father, Robert Berto, took the boy from school and taught him a whole year at home. When Joshua was old enough to go to high school, the family decided that he would return to school with other children, but the bullying began again.

Then the boy's parents took an unusual step by changing his name from Trump to Berto in the school’s database.

On Tuesday, in a conversation with ABC, mom remembered some of the ridicule Joshua had encountered.

“They curse him, they call him stupid, an idiot. He said that he hated himself and his last name, that he was sad all the time and he didn’t want to live with such feelings anymore. I will say, as a parent, this is very scary,” admitted Megan Berto.

High school principal Mark Myers said the school has changed Joshua's last name in its databases and will help him resolve issues moving forward. Five children who bullied 11-year-old Trump were punished - it is not reported how.
