Trump canceled all meetings and held talks with Poroshenko

The President of the United States unexpectedly canceled all bilateral meetings at the NATO summit in Brussels, scheduled for Thursday, July 12, but managed to hold talks with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

According to European Pravda, which first reported the cancellation of negotiations between the heads of Ukraine and the United States, the meeting lasted about 20 minutes.

“We discussed a wide range of issues, including Nord Stream 2 and further cooperation in the defense sector,” one source told the publication.

Another interviewee noted that due to a shift in the order of the day, negotiations took place without an invitation from the press.

It should be noted that political scientist Pavel Nuss also reported about the talks held on his Facebook page.

According to him, during the meeting, the leaders of the two countries discussed, among other things, the political-defense relations between Ukraine and the United States and also the strategy of the United States at the upcoming meeting of Trump with Putin.

Later, at a press conference after an emergency meeting of NATO leaders, Trump said that “Ukraine was already here today,” without specifying the context in which this issue was discussed.

Recall that earlier trump commented Russia's annexation of Ukrainian Crimea. According to him, his predecessor, Barack Obama, is to blame for this. At the same time, he emphasized that he intends to discuss the issues of Donbass and Crimea during his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on July 16.

“I will meet with him on Monday. We will talk about different things. We will talk about Ukraine. Ukraine was here today. You know, it's very interesting to hear from him what he will tell me. He can say he didn't do it. If he says something, you will be the first to know about it,” the US President said.

Later, Poroshenko talked about how he talked to Trump. The head of the Ukrainian state was pleased with the meeting. However, I decided not to disclose some details.

“Of course, I cannot and will not reveal some things from the conversation. But it was an absolutely confidential conversation, and I am very pleased that Ukraine was given priority, and there was an absolute necessity that before Helsinki we needed to talk with US President Donald Trump,” the Ukrainian President said.
