'Trump is part of the problem': New York mayor threatens fines for Trump Organization
If Trump Tower and other buildings owned by the Trump Organization do not reduce harmful emissions by 2030, they will have to pay a fine of $2,1 million annually.
Trump's eight sites in New York do not meet the new requirements of the mayor's office regarding greenhouse gas emissions. Requirements were approved in April. They assume that a number of large buildings will reduce emissions by 40%, or pay annual fines. The eight largest facilities owned by the US president in New York emit around 27 000 tons of climate warming gases. This is equivalent to pollution from 5800 cars, writes Voice of America with reference to sources in The Guardian.
The largest possible violator could be the skyscraper in which the Trump International Hotel is located. If the energy efficiency of the building is not improved, the penalty for this location will exceed 850 000 dollars per year, reports the publication.
“President Trump, you have been warned,” said New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. - pollution from your buildings is a problem. Cut your emissions or pay for it.”

“Trump is part of the problem,” the mayor wrote on Twitter, responding to criticism of the New York City Hall plans from the US President.
"Those who do well don't pay fines, but anyone over the threshold has a lot to do," says City Hall spokesman Mark Chambers. “Obviously the president has to pay attention to this, and it’s a lot of money.”
“We will do everything we can to tackle the climate crisis. It's important that everyone is responsible, and President Trump poses the biggest obstacles for us in tackling climate change,” he added.

The president's son Eric Trump called Bill de Blasio's actions "just childish", writes New York Post.
"The mayor of a major city attacking a renowned organization (employing thousands of hardworking New York taxpayers) for his own political gain is an abuse of power, unethical and simply illogical," Eric Trump tweeted.
De Blasio clashed with protesters when he attempted to hold an outdoor press conference on May 13. But in the end, due to stormy weather, he spoke in the lobby of the Trump residence in Manhattan, where he intended to promote his new Green Deal.
De Blasio tried to highlight the Trump Organization's "failure to reduce emissions" from their buildings.
Erik Trump continued to verbally attack the mayor, but offered to discuss this issue more substantively in a different situation over time.
“@NYCMayor, if you ever think there is an initiative that would be good for New York, I would be happy to come to City Hall and visit you any time. But holding a pop-up press conference in our lobby is just childish,” he added on Twitter.
