The last dog who saved people during the 9 / 11 attack died

The 16-year-old Golden Retriever, nicknamed Brittany, was put to sleep at the Cypres, Texas veterinary clinic. Before euthanasia, fire brigade officers saluted a tribute, the animal's body was wrapped in a national flag of the United States after death: these honors were rendered for the last of the surviving dogs that took part in rescuing people after the September 11 attack.

Brittany worked 10 days as part of the Texas Task Force number one during the September 2001 rescue operation. In addition to her, around 300 four-legged assistants took part in the search.

Upon reaching the age of nine, Brittany retired.

On September 11, 2001, al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four planes. Two airliners were sent to the World Trade Center (WTC) buildings in New York, one to the Pentagon building, another crashed in Pennsylvania: it is assumed that passengers and crew tried to regain control of the car.

The victims of the worst terrorist attack of the century were about 3 thousands of people, 6,3 thousands suffered.
