The state of New York recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
Both houses of the New York State Parliament adopted a resolution recognizing the Holodomor as an act of genocide against the Ukrainian people.
This is stated in message on Facebook page Ukrainian Embassy in the United States.
“The New York State Senate and Assembly adopted a joint resolution on the 85th anniversary of the 1932-1933 Holodomor in Ukraine, which recognizes this tragedy as genocide of the Ukrainian people,” the statement said.
The embassy clarified that today the Holodomor in Ukraine is recognized as genocide already in nine US states: Washington, Wisconsin, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Oregon and Pennsylvania.
