Fire in a boarding school in Russia claimed the lives of 23 people

The regional investigative department has opened a criminal case into the death of people, and forensic scientists are working at the scene. Over the past ten years, a series of fires in boarding schools and nursing homes have occurred in a number of Russian regions, killing more than a hundred patients and medical personnel.

9 October 2011 was a fire in the temporary residence for the elderly and disabled, located in the village of Tikhon, Vohomsky district, Kostroma region. In the building were 13 retirees, a caretaker and a nurse. Four people died in the fire.

At the end of January 2009, a fire broke out in a nursing home in the village of Podyelsk in the Komi Republic, which killed 23 people.
