Russia refused to coalition with the United States
Russia refused to enter into a coalition with the United States against the Islamic State. This was announced by Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin.
Moscow believes that Western countries have not finally decided on the objectives of military intervention: to destroy terrorism or overthrow Bashar al-Assad.
“We will not join a coalition that operates without the permission of the Security Council. They are bombing Syrian territory without the consent of the Syrian government, without the permission of the Security Council. As far as I understand, in Iraq they at least received the consent of the government, but not in Syria,” TASS quotes the diplomat.
According to him, the coalition members have not decided on their goals: either they are really trying to eliminate terrorists, or they want to overthrow the government of Bashar al-Assad. In this regard, Churkin called on the Security Council to conduct a thorough analysis of the situation in the Middle East.
If the Council discusses the situation in Syria, Lebanon or the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, it is always done separately. “The relationship is not always analyzed,” the diplomat noted.
