The prosecutor's office will not file charges of harassment against the director of the Metropolitan Opera

The Lake District, Illinois Prosecutor’s Office, which investigated the sexual harassment charges against James Levine, Metropolitan Opera’s Honorary Director, concluded that “there are no reasons for criminal charges.”

The investigation came to this conclusion, taking into account several factors, including the age of legal consent to sex in Illinois at the time when the events mentioned by the prosecutor occurred, reports The New York Daily News.

According to investigators, Levine's sexual contact with the unnamed accuser occurred during the summers of 1986 and 1987, when the accuser was 16 and 17 years old, the then legal age for consensual sexual relations in Illinois. Additionally, the indictment made no mention of Levine's use of force or coercion against the accuser.

Recall, the honorary music director of the Metropolitan Opera James Levine accused of sexual harassment a man whose name was not disclosed.

He left a statement about sexual harassment by Levine at the Illinois police in 2016.

According to this document, he met Levine at an Illinois festival in 1985. At that time he was 15 years old, and he wanted to make a career in music.

He claims that for the first time, Levine was “very sensual” holding his hand. At the next meetings, the conductor, according to the applicant, lay with him naked in bed and touched his penis, having previously forced the man to undress.
