PayPal provided the opportunity to send money from the US to Ukraine

The international electronic payment system PayPal has included the ability to transfer funds from the USA to Ukraine through the Xoom transfer service acquired a few years ago.

As the Business Censor, Ilya Koenigstein, Managing Partner of Creative Quarter, founder of the PayPal for Ukraine initiative, said on his Facebook page.

“The main news of 2018. A couple of hours ago, PayPal enabled the possibility of cross-border transfers for Ukraine. So far only from the USA and so far only through its subsidiary Xoom. But I am sure that this is just the beginning,” Kenigstein emphasized.

The founder of the PayPal for Ukraine initiative recalled that Xoom is a money transfer system that PayPal bought in November 2015.

“Previously, Xoom allowed you to send money to 44 countries; Ukraine was not on this list. Starting today, Xoom allows you to send money from the United States to 130 countries, including Ukraine. The announcement of this event appeared on their website yesterday, August 28. Representatives of PayPal’s Warsaw office contacted me this morning,” said Kenigstein.

The expansion of the countries of presence of Xoom was made possible through a partnership with Ria, a subsidiary of Euronet Worldwide. Now, US customers can send money to 70% of countries around the world simply by downloading the Xoom application to their mobile phone, or by accessing the Xoom website.

You can send up to $ 2999 per day, but not more than $ 6000 per 30 days. Or expand the limits through the form on the site, providing additional documents. Through Xoom sent funds to relatives and friends. That is, it is not necessary to confirm the relationship, but these are personal translations.

“For Ukraine, we have enabled the Cash Pickup service, which allows the recipient in Ukraine to pick up a money transfer from one of the banks listed on the Xoom website. “Oshchadbank”, “Privatbank”, Universal, “Pravexbank”, “Ukrgasbank” are all on the list,” noted the founder of the initiative.

“So now there is a great way to receive money from the US in Ukraine. For now only from the USA. But this is PayPal, albeit through its daughter. And in light of our three-year saga in trying to drag this stubborn company to Ukraine, I regard this as a big step. In fact, this is a historical moment confirming that sooner or later PayPal will enter Ukraine,” added Kenigstein.
