New housing lotteries in New York: how to rent an affordable apartment

The New York City Housing Authority regularly conducts lottery on the right to rent available apartments in different areas of the city.

We collected information about the three lotteries that were launched this week.

4 apartments in new building in Brooklyn

The building is located at: 195 Sullivan Place, Brooklyn, NY 11225. Three studios for the price of $ 904 per month and one one-bedroom apartment for $ 1039 per month participate in the lottery.

To be eligible for the lottery, applicants must have an annual income between $30 and $994 for a single studio applicant; from $43 to $860 for a single person and from $35 to $623 for a couple applying for a one-bedroom apartment.

Apartments in a new building in the Bronx

The building is located at: 915 Eagle Avenue, Bronx, NY 10456. 1 Studio participates in the lottery for $ 100 per month and 2 one-bedroom apartments for $ 1450 per month.

To be eligible to participate in the lottery, the annual income of applicants must be from $ 34 286 to $ 95 030 for one person or from $ 34 286 to $ 108 550 for a couple applying for a studio; from $ 49 714 to $ 95 030 for one person, or from $ 49 714 to $ 108 550 for a couple, or from $ 49 714 to $ 122 070 for a family of three who pretend to be a one bedroom apartment.

28 apartments in a new building in Brooklyn

The building is located at: 824 East New York Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, 11203. 6 studios are priced at $ 1 800 per month, 19 one-bedroom apartments - $ 2 200 per month and 3 two-bedroom apartments - $ 2 600 per month.

To be eligible to participate in the lottery, the annual income of applicants must be from $ 61 715 to $ 95 030 for one person applying for a studio; from $ 75 429 to $ 95 030 for one person, or from $ 75 429 to $ 108 550 for a couple claiming to be a one-bedroom apartment; from $ 89 143 to $ 108 550 for a couple, or from $ 89 143 to $ 122 070 for a family of three, or from $ 89 143 to $ 135 590 for a family of four people applying for a two-bedroom apartment.

Sign up for NYC Housing Connect

For registration in NYC Housing Connect You must provide a valid email address and basic contact information. You can update this information at any time. Only one account per household is allowed.

Fill in your household information

You will be asked to provide details of employment and income (for you and all household members). Once you have started the application process, you can save the application and return to it at any time. To apply, you must fill in all required fields.

To submit an application, click on the “Submit Application” button for any of the residential properties for which you are entitled to apply. For one residential object you can submit no more than one application. The application must be submitted no later than the deadline. You can check whether the application has been filed in the section "Application Status".

Track application history

You will be contacted in the event that your application will be randomly selected at the stage of the initial registration of the lease. Please note that due to the large number of applications it is impossible to contact each applicant for each project. You can view all the projects for which you have applied for in the Residential Objects List (Search tab). Here you can check whether the application has expired or has expired.

If you do not want to apply online, you can submit it in paper form. An application form can be mailed to you. Go to the ad for the project you are interested in on the Search page. There you will learn how to get an application form by mail and where to send the completed form. To receive the announcement and the application form in Russian, send an envelope with your return address to: 229 Cherry Street, The Wavecrest Management Team, 87-14 116th Street, Richmond Hill, NY 11418. On the back of the envelope, write the word “RUSSIAN” in English.

Applicants are not required to pay an application fee, but they may be charged for a credit check that is not refundable.
