NATO will open a representative office in Moldova
Moldovan Prime Minister Kirill Gaburici paid a visit to Brussels to attend the first meeting of the Moldova-European Union Association Council. In the framework of this meeting, the successes and “omissions” of our country were discussed. What kind of "omissions" noticed in the EU, the prime minister did not specify.
Kirill Gaburici also met with high-ranking European officials: European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel.
“At a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, we agreed to deepen cooperation, in particular in the national security sector. At the same time, I invited him to make a visit to our country in the near future and expressed my readiness to open a NATO office in Chisinau,” noted Chiril Gaburici upon his return from Brussels.
According to Gaburici, Xavier Bettel promised to delegate an expert in the banking field who "will train specialists in our country."
The Prime Minister also participated in the summit of the European People’s Party. The topics of discussion were the Energy Union, the crisis in Greece, and the situation in Ukraine.
“We also discussed actions that need to be taken before the Eastern Partnership summit in Riga in May. As part of this summit, I held discussions with Angela Merkel, former French President Nicolas Sarkozy and former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili. We discussed the Association Agreement and the priorities of the Republic of Moldova for this period,” concluded Chiril Gaburici.
