Jellyfish stung more than 800 people on Florida beaches in three days
Jellyfish have become a massive problem on the beaches along the coast of Central Florida over the weekend.
Rescuers received 107 reports of jellyfish stings on Saturday, 523 on Sunday and 180 on Monday, for a total of 837 people stung by jellyfish in Florida over three days, writes CNN.
Local rescuers cannot say for sure if this is a record, but noted that this is definitely a very large number of bites in such a short period.
The appearance of a large number of jellyfish on the beaches of Florida is not uncommon, in a year there is one or two periods of the invasion of these sea inhabitants on Florida beaches.
How to act
First of all, you should pay attention to the colored flags on the beaches, which denote different ocean conditions. Many Florida beaches this weekend were marked with purple flags that warn of “dangerous sea creatures”.
If you are stung by a jellyfish, you should immediately consult a doctor.
The jellyfish bites are quite painful, but they are relatively easy to cure with the help of white vinegar, which, as a rule, rescuers have.
