Los Angeles presented the logo of the application for the Olympics-2024

The city of Los Angeles, which is a candidate for hosting the 2024 Summer Olympic Games of the Year, introduced the logo and slogan of its application.

Along with the American city, the European cities of Paris, Rome and Budapest are fighting for the Olympics. Voting will take place at the International Olympic Committee session in September 2017.

If the Los Angeles bids are won, the Games will return to California after 40 years and will be the third in a row for the city after the 1932 and 1984 Olympics.

Los Angeles Mayor Erik Garchetti and more 100 American Olympians and Paralympians took part in the presentation of the city’s logo.

The Los Angeles 2024 logo, according to the authors, symbolizes the athletes realizing their dreams, as well as the spirit of optimism and progress of the residents of the “city of angels.”

In addition, the floating female figure in the logo is illuminated by another symbol of Los Angeles - the sun. The slogan of the application is “Follow the Sun.”

“The figure is illuminated, elevated and inspired by the rays of the sun, which are reflected in the heart of the figure with the colors typically seen in the sky at sunset and dawn,” states the LA 2024 press release.

The logo was created by the local creative agency 72andSunny.

“We invite the world to follow the sun to California in 2024 for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will usher in a new era for the Olympic Movement,” said Los Angeles Bid Committee Chairman Casey Wasserman.

According to preliminary estimates, the Olympic Games will cost 5,5 billion to Los Angeles, but local authorities consider these funds to be an important investment in the future of the city.

The University of California, UCLA, is expected to become a large Olympic village housing athletes, and the University of Southern California is expected to become a multimedia center for the press.

However, many are worried about the existing problems of Los Angeles with the infrastructure, especially with transport support.
