A congressional committee approved arms shipments to Ukraine

The Armed Services Committee of the US Congress approved the allocation of $200 million to supply weapons to the Ukrainian army and to train military personnel “resisting Russian aggression.”

60 committee members voted for this decision, 2 voted against. In May, this issue will be considered by the entire House of Representatives.

Despite requests from both Democrats and Republicans to supply arms to the Ukrainian army, President Barack Obama did not agree to this step.

Earlier Thursday, the commander of NATO ground forces in Europe, General Philip Breedlove statedthat Russia is using a “silence regime” in eastern Ukraine to regroup troops and a possible offensive.
