Artist from the USA paints pictures by touch

By 30 years, artist John Bramblitt completely lost his sight. But just then, in such a state, painting became important to him.

Mixing colors, John Bramblitt compares himself with the cook, who adds the right amount of ingredients to the dish exactly according to the recipe. And all because, to see what the result of his efforts Joan can not. He is blind, but he paints pictures, feeling to the touch, using what paints and how he puts strokes.

He lost his sight due to epilepsy, the symptoms of the disease first appeared in 11 years, and by the 30 years he stopped seeing. It seemed that life lost its meaning, because all dreams turned out to be untenable, and plans for the future were destroyed. The artist recalls that he was severely depressed, and he did not see a way out of this state.

It took John Bramblitt a year to overcome despair. He decided for himself that he would find a way to paint whatever it would cost him, and he really learned how to work with paints, putting strokes so that they were tangible. According to John himself, his first drawing was completely awkward, but the very fact that he was able to connect the disparate lines together and create a holistic image inspired faith in him. This was a spark of hope in the dark world of his despair.

He began to write quickly drying glue from the tube, which allowed him to feel the drawn lines to the touch. Now he has mastered oil paints.

When starting work, the artist first thinks out the composition in detail in his mind. John Bramblitt also selects materials especially: he claims that different colors of oil paints have different consistencies. For example, white paint is thick and resembles toothpaste, while black paint is thinner. In addition, the tubes in the workshop are labeled with “Braille”, so John can figure out which color he is holding in his hands.

Since then, the artist has been improving his skills, and today there are many bright, dynamic paintings in his collection that are admired by the audience. Joan Bramblitt lives in Denton (Texas, USA), he is well known not only in America but also abroad.

A talented master paints pictures for over 10 years, over the years, he has been repeatedly told in the press, he received awards at various competitions and exhibitions. And John Bramblitt himself admits that to some extent even grateful to the fate of being blind. Starting to fight the disease, he discovered a real talent in himself, managed to realize himself and find a purpose in life.
