Former leader of the Ku Klux Klan decided to run for the US Senate
Former leader of the Ku Klux Klan ultra-right organization, David Duke, was about to run for the US Senate from Louisiana.
As a registered supporter of the Republican Party, he will claim a seat in the Senate, vacated by Republican David Vitter, writes USA Today.
Witter, who was implicated in the sex scandal, had previously announced that he would not be re-elected.
“I am proud to announce my candidacy for the United States Senate. I believe in equal rights and respect for all Americans. However, what sets me apart from the rest is that I also demand respect for the rights and heritage of European Americans,” Duke said in a video posted on his official website.
He also added that “I am happy to see that the US presidential candidate Donald Trump and many Americans have paid attention to the questions. which he has been raising for years. ”
From 1989 to 1992, Duke was a member of the Louisiana State House of Representatives, repeatedly nominated for the presidency of the United States, and in 1991 he ran for state governors.
In the 2003 year for fraud and tax evasion, Duke was sentenced to imprisonment for 15 months and 10 for thousands dollars in fines for fraud and tax evasion.
It is worth noting that more than 20 candidates are already applying for Witter’s place in the Senate.
