FBI agent convicted of stealing heroin from evidence
In the United States, they were sentenced to three years in prison for stealing heroin from physical evidence of an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
33-year-old Matthew Lowry served in a task force that was investigating drug related crimes. They also collected physical evidence. Lowry admitted his guilt. He said that he used his official position and replaced heroin in packets with laxative or protein protein.
For the first time, Lowry stole heroin in this way in 2013. But in 2015, he could not have a day without drugs, so he stole it from material evidence every day.
In the courtroom, Lowry cried and begged for mercy. He explained that he had become a drug addict because of the acute form of ulcerative colitis. The painkillers stopped helping him, only heroin brought relief. Given this circumstance, Lowry will go to prison for three years, not nine years. He is also required to pay 15 thousands of dollars in fines.
