After years of controversy, two new latrines will be constructed on Brighton Beach in New York, access to which people with disabilities will be simplified thanks to convenient ramps and elevators. Their construction was planned to begin as early as 2013, but due to conflicts over the construction site, the project had to be postponed.
According to the plan, their construction will be completed before Memorial Day, 28 May, said Stephen Kimbrovitz (Democratic Party), a member of the Assembly of the State of New York, on his page on the social network Facebook.
Lavatories worth 2 million dollars will be built on Boardwalk reigelmann after almost 5 years of discussions and debates about which place to choose.
Construction will begin on February 12 and should be completed by May 28.
According to the project on the site NYC Parks, the room is a building on an elevation in which the toilet and bathroom will be located. On one side it will be equipped with steps, and on the other - ramps and an elevator, convenient for wheelchair users to enter the building. The stations will also be equipped with hurricane protection, since previous similar structures on New York beaches were destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.
