Normal weather in San Francisco, California is fairly cool (in the low 20s Celsius) and often foggy, but on September 1 the city set a temperature record of 106 degrees Fahrenheit (41 degrees Celsius).
This figure is a record for the entire period of official observations of the weather in the city, which are conducted from 1874 year, that is, almost 150 years, writes The Washington Post.

This temperature is more than 30 degrees Fahrenheit above normal for the region. The average maximum of 1 September in San Francisco is only 21 degrees Celsius.
To prepare city residents for unusually high temperatures for them, the Weather Service issued a warning about the heat, and also made a list of tips on how to protect themselves in hot weather.
The beginning of September was marked by record temperature indicators in many parts of California because of the “dome” of hot air, which was established over the state. Cooling expected 4-5 September.
